Canal bridge art |
Such a convoluted password tonight, and it doesn’t seem to work. So, no posting tonight or even checking email. I’ll catch up tomorrow.
As usual, getting out of town was a little twisty, i.e. L, R, L, R, but at mile 15 we got onto the Canalway Trail and followed it for about 10 miles.

Then, off the trail in Rochester to visit Jackie Marchand’s home where she, her sisters and parents treated us to a delicious brunch of egg casseroles, fruit, bagels w/salmon, tomato slice and cream cheese and lots of homemade cookies. Jackie’s home is also the headquarters for WomanTours and both sisters work for the company (Jackie's the President). It was a treat to see their work space and thus have a visual image of them when I call. After leaving 2340 Elmwood, we still had 50 miles to ride. We returned to a bike trail and then to Canal Way, and passed thru several villages along the Canal. In Fairport, our que

sheet got confusing and we got lost. See the pic of me going down uneven stone steps with bike in hand. That was NOT supposed to happen!
We added 4 miles to our trip some how or other. It was OK, though, because the scenery was great and the weather near perfect. We rode thru many orchards of apples and peaches - lots and lots of orchards, and some lovely homes all along the road.
In Pultneyville, we went around a curve and voila! There was Lake Ontario. We followed along the lake all the way to Sodus Point. I rode around the town which is a charming fishing village with a good, white sand beach. It seems to be a destination point for summer vacationers. There’s also a very large marina with lots of fancy boats.
Tonight we’re in two different B‘n B’s. Lynda C. and I are in the bedroom above the garage at The Carriage House; Carolyn and Sue are in the sitting room on daybeds. There’s a bath room with a phone booth shower and small kitchen. Some of the other girls are in the Big House which is a charming old, Victorian home. Our bikes are in the garage under our bedroom.

Bonnie and me |
Somewhere along the route today, we met up with a small group cycling across country. They left on June 12, Bonnie's 71st birthday, and will reach Bar Harbor on August 16. Tonight they're camping at Sodus Point.
Menu: Grilled Salmon, Steamed Broccoli w/toasted almonds, Yukon Gold Potatoes. Rebecca Bennett (NT:E) brought us a beautiful cake and a variety of ice cream. Other guests included Kathy Nawrocki and Ann Cowan (NW Loop) who, along with their husbands, are biking around Lake Ontario.
These are some of today's homes and scenes:
