Today's ride was long but doable. . . We loaded the trailer in a slight drizzle. Everyone started out in rain gear about 6:45. The first 50 miles we were plagued with a strong head wind. The roads, however, were good and void of traffic. I think 2 cars passed us in the first 3 hrs. Also, we had good shoulders for most of the route. In Eagle Bend, several of us stopped at Mel's One Stop. This fellow and Baby drove up for gas. Couldn't resist taking his picture. After lunch at a Subway Shop in Long Prairie, the wind semed to die down and Judie and I made much better time. It was still around 3 PM when we arrived at the AmericInn. Must admit I was plenty tired. Just haven't cycled three days in a row since last summer. I'll be whipped into shape by the end of next week. Before getting to the motel, I directed us by the Black & White restaurant where some us had a gourmet dinner in '07 on a day off. Also rode by the falls . . . Saw some yard art today that brought a smile. The lady scarecrow was in a beautifully manicured yard. We see lots of silos so finally got a shot of one of these that was close to the road. We were told to watch for St.
Stanislaus Church in Sobieski and observe the lawn ornaments. Well, the ornaments were gone, but the church was pretty - a huge church for such a tiny town. Somewhere along way I saw a farm with two Amish carriages in the yard and beauiful horses off to the side. They were eating apples off the odd shaped tree. Got my laundry done in time for everything to get dry before dinner. Will have to get a pic of our fancy dancy clothesline; Actually, I have a great camp clothesline (thank you, Margaret) and used it in Pelican Rapids. Just before entering Little Falls, we made our first crossing of the Mighty Mississippi.
Tonight's menu:
Barbequed chicken sandwiches
Green salad
Potato salad
Pork 'N Beans
Fresh fruit including watermelon, cherries, pineapple

Enjoying seeing the roads least traveled through your lens and pen. We missed you in WBF today and continue to pray for you and the group.
It is nice to see people biking around our area of Sobieski, MN and admiring it too. Thank You for coming through and visiting our town and church. Have a safe trip.
