June 29, 2011

I'm back again trying to get this year's blog set up.  Using my Acer netbook again this year, I hope I'm more accustomed to it after depending solely on it now for a year.  My friend Jean and I are looking forward to the 5th when we fly out (up and out) to Fargo, ND, to resume our trek across the northern tier of these United States.  We had hoped to travel by Amtrak, but, alas, flooding in Minot, ND, caused that plan to be cancelled.  This proved a minor setback for us as we got seats on Delta, and now have two extra days to tie up loose ends at home.  My bike was shipped earlier this week after having a new crank set installed.  This is guaranteed to help me get up and over the mountains!  :))  Now, if my back will just cooperate,  I'll be in great shape.  Recent tests show severe degenerative disc disease of L-5/S-1, which I understand half the world shares.  Good PT is helping me deal with the discomfort, plus appropriate meds to take as needed.  I'm not much of a pill  taker, but am dedicated to doing the exercises which should strengthen my core (side effect: flatter tummy!).  Enough of that. . .  See you on the road next week.

Clark..........you haven't missed anything but more hot weather. We've had a few "Teaser" showers which didn't amount to much. We'll keep the safety of all the riders in our prayers..........have fun.
