Juy 8, 2011 Wadena, MN 59 miles

Another gorgeous day of cycling in Minnesota! The route took us around Otter Tail Lake and past lovely summer homes, as well as by more beautiful green crops of corn and soybeans. The fields usually go as far as the eye can see. Shortly after leaving Pelican Rapids, I passed this pond of Holstein cows. They seemed to be soaking up the cool water in anticipation of the afternoon heat. Judie (Gainesville, FL) and I enjoyed riding together today. I really do like my new Shimano crank set. Mike told me the smaller rings would help on the hills and he was correct. The shifting is much easier also. The upgrade was well worth the cost.

Helping out with the dishes
Tonight we’re in the AmericaInn in Wadena, MN. I promised my friend Jean that I would substitute for her on the dishwashing line tonight, hence the photo. The SAG drivers (she’s one of three) perform KP every night, but others pitch in, too.

Menu: Green salad, corn/artichoke/cilantro/onion salad, cheese quesadillas, beef/turkey/veggie chili, chicken sausages, and grapes . . everything was delicious.
